Why we like it:
This ulock and cable are the perfect combo of premium security and lightweight convenience. This is probably the lowest security lock we’d recommended to our friends. The main benefits of this lock are; it is small, firm light weight design, and it can easily fit in a backpack. It fits most bikes for most situations.
It is recommended that this bike be used with a standard hybrid, 26” mountain bike and single speeds. As these locks are not only designed to fit these bikes well but they also provide great security and flexibility when locking these types of bikes up.
We do not recommend this Lock for e-bikes. The reason we don’t recommend this lock for e-bikes is that e-bikes tend to have very large and bulky tubing and it would be hard to find a safe/secure location to lock your bike up with this lock.
Kryptonite rates this lock an 8 out of 10 on their in house security table. But what does this mean? They use in house QA testing and this organization: https://www.soldsecure.com/ which is an independent firm that tests bicycle (and other lock types) for safety and security.
They rate the Kryptonite Mini 7 Ulock a Gold on their scale. This meets their rigid and rigorous standards have met their standards and has features that secure this rating for these sturdy locks.
